Jobber vs Housecall Pro: Which Is Better for Your Business?

6 min read ยท October 26, 2026

Jobber is usually the better pick for solo owners and small crews who want simple, low cost scheduling, quotes and invoices, since it starts at $49 a month. Housecall Pro is usually the better pick for plumbing, HVAC and electrical teams that want dispatch, a price book and customer financing built in, and it starts at $79 a month. Both are good tools, so the right answer depends on your team size and trade.

Prices checked October 2026. Both companies can change their prices, so confirm the current numbers on each vendor's own site before you decide.

The short version

  • Pick Jobber if you are solo or run a small lawn care, cleaning or general home service crew and want the lowest starting price.
  • Pick Housecall Pro if you run trucks in plumbing, HVAC or electrical and want dispatch, a price book and financing on the first plan.
  • Try both. Each one offers a 14 day free trial with no credit card.

Price compared at your team size

The fairest way to compare is by how many people need a login. Here are the monthly prices when you pay month to month, and when you pay for a full year.

Team sizeJobberHousecall Pro
1 userCore $49/mo monthly, $29/mo yearly. Grow $199/mo monthly, $149/mo yearlyBasic $79/mo monthly, $59/mo yearly
5 usersConnect $199/mo monthly. Grow $299/mo monthly. Plus $499/mo monthlyEssentials $189/mo monthly, $149/mo yearly
8 usersNo 8 user tier. Connect 10 users is $299/mo monthlyMAX $329/mo monthly, $299/mo yearly
Extra users$29/mo each$35/mo each past 8 on MAX
Card feesCharged separately, rate not listed on the pricing pageFrom 2.59%, bank payments 1%, mobile check deposit free

For a solo owner, Jobber costs less to start. At 5 users the two are close, and Housecall Pro Essentials is a bit cheaper than Jobber Connect at 5 users. At 8 or more people, Housecall Pro MAX can come out ahead because 8 users are included.

Jobber also has a middle option. You can pay monthly with a 12 month commitment for a lower price, such as Core at $39 a month.

Features compared

Both tools handle the basics well. You can book jobs, schedule, send quotes or estimates, send invoices and take payments in either one. The differences show up in what each plan includes.

Housecall Pro packs more trade tools into its first plan. Jobber's first plan is cheaper and includes a website. If you run a service shop with a price book and techs in the field, Housecall Pro's Basic plan covers more. If you are a small crew doing recurring work, Jobber's Core plan may be all you need.

Contracts and canceling

This is one of the biggest differences, so read it twice.

  • Jobber has three billing options. Monthly with no commitment can be canceled any time. Monthly with a 12 month commitment means you keep paying through the term even if you cancel. Billed yearly is paid up front and is not refundable. All three renew on their own.
  • Housecall Pro's FAQ says it does not require long-term contracts. Plan downgrades take effect at the end of your monthly or yearly period.

With either one, start on monthly billing. Move to yearly only after a few months when you know the software fits your crew.

Reviews and common complaints

Both tools are well rated on Capterra. Jobber has 4.6 out of 5 from 1,487 reviews. Housecall Pro has 4.7 out of 5 from 2,749 reviews. Both also have complaints that show up again and again in those reviews.

  • Jobber: some users report glitches and lag during the work day, reports that do not go deep enough, sync problems with accounting and payroll tools, and costs that climb with add-ons and extra users.
  • Housecall Pro: some users report bugs that slow the day down, invoices that are hard to customize, clunky recurring jobs, limited email options, and big price jumps past 5 users.

Neither list should scare you off. These are patterns in reviews, and they may not affect how you work. Use the free trial to test the parts you use most, like invoicing or recurring jobs.

Which one should you pick?

Ask yourself three questions. How many people need a login? Do you need dispatch, a price book and financing on day one? And how do your customers usually pay?

If you are a one truck operation, Jobber Core is the cheaper place to start. If you run a plumbing or HVAC shop with several techs and a price book, Housecall Pro will likely feel more at home. If you are in between, sign up for both free trials in the same week and run real jobs through each one.

What neither tool does for you

Jobber and Housecall Pro both help you run the jobs you already have. They make scheduling, invoicing and payments easier. They do not, on their own, make your phone ring more in a slow winter or catch the call you missed while you were on a roof.

Jobber's Plus plan and its Marketing Suite add some marketing tools. Even so, both products are built mainly to run the work. Getting found on Google, answering every lead fast and following up on cold quotes is a separate job.

Where Bricked Up Systems fits

Bricked Up Systems is a done-for-you growth system for contractors. For $297 a month with no contract, we build and run your website, local SEO, Google Business Profile, missed-call text back, follow-up on open quotes, a lead CRM and review requests after every job.

We are not field service software. We do not do dispatching, crew job scheduling or tech routing the way Jobber or Housecall Pro do. Some contractors use both. Their field service tool runs the jobs, and Bricked Up Systems brings in and follows up on the leads.

Questions contractors ask

  • Which is better for HVAC and plumbing? Housecall Pro is often the better fit because dispatch, a price book and financing come on its first plan.
  • Which is better for lawn care and cleaning? Jobber is popular with these trades because its low cost plans cover scheduling, quotes and invoices.
  • Do both have free trials? Yes. Jobber offers 14 days of Grow and Housecall Pro offers 14 days of MAX, both with no credit card.
  • Can I use Bricked Up Systems with Jobber or Housecall Pro? Yes. Some contractors use a field service tool to run jobs and Bricked Up Systems to bring in and follow up on leads.
